Thoughts:
Boy, did I learn a lot about my reading preferences this month! The House Across the Lake was my first Sager book, and honestly, I was underwhelmed. I went in expecting your typical, enthralling domestic thriller but it really fell flat for me. There were some scenes that I was not expecting, but not in a good way. It was definitely my least favorite read this month. That being said, I will be reading Sager again. I think that now I know what to expect, I will enjoy it a bit more.
My most memorable read, by far, is Julia Bartz' The Writing Retreat. It was absolutely unhinged, in the best way possible. I really enjoyed it and Bartz is on my must read list for authors! It was the exact vibe I was looking for in a book this month. The gothic setting mixed with the unpredictable events that occurred, it was... *chef's kiss*.
I also wanted to highlight The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose, a Kindle Unlimited book, as an honorable mention. It was a great domestic thriller/mystery with an unexpected twist at the end! My mouth quite literally fell to the floor when finishing this book. I love KU a lot because it lets me explore authors such as Jeneva Rose, who I now want to read more of!
Overall, this month was a very good month! I think is mostly due to my new Kindle. I bought myself a Kindle Paperwhite as a birthday gift, which I paired with a Kindle holder and a wireless page turner and I have found myself reading every single night. Hopefully this trend keeps up, because I am finally reading books on TBR before it grows to an unattainable size. Let's be realistic though, my TBR is always growing!
I can't wait to see what I am able to cross off my TBR during April. Have you read any of these titles before? What were your thoughts and are we on the same page in terms of rating? Let me know in the comments below!
